UBS receives special honors at EuroWeek's 20th anniversary award ceremony

In a major honor for the firm, UBS has been named the 'Best Overall Bank over the Last 20 Years' at a special awards ceremony commemorating the 20th anniversary of leading financial publication, EuroWeek.

At the dinner, UBS was also named 'Most Impressive Bank for Financial Institutions in Euros' and 'Most Impressive Bank for Financial Institutions Coverage'.

Launch of the new UBS Global Warming Index

The Investment Bank today launches the UBS Global Warming Index (UBS-GWI). The index is a tradable benchmark for global investments in the weather derivatives market.

UBS-GWI is the first weather index designed to reflect the current needs of the whole investment community. It provides a rational and simple way to obtain exposure to the weather asset class.

First trade in the UK gas sector marks launch of UBS's European Commodity Desk

UBS's European Commodity Desk this week executed its first trade in the UK gas market, marking the official launch of the UBS Power, Gas, and Emissions business in Europe.

UBS is an established player in the North American energy markets, covering wholesale natural gas, power, crude oil, and refined products. The new London-based European Power, Gas, and Emissions desk is part of Global Commodities' expansion of the existing energy business.

UBS holds its Annual General Meeting 2007

At the Annual General Meeting held on April 18, 2007, the shareholders of UBS approved the dividend of CHF 2.20 per share proposed by the Board of Directors.

They also elected a new member – Sergio Marchionne – to the Board of Directors and re-elected Stephan Haeringer, Helmut Panke and Peter Spuhler to their respective offices for another three years.

UBS shareholders approved the creation of conditional capital. The Annual General Meeting was attended by 2536 shareholders, representing 566,990,810 votes.

A major step forward in the creation of new Multilateral Trading Facility

UBS and the six other investment banks involved with the establishment of Turquoise, new Multilateral Trading Facility (MTF) for pan-European equities trading, today announced a major milestone in the platform's development.

The consortium - consisting of UBS, Citibank, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley - has entered into an agreement with EuroCCP to deliver a pan-European clearing & settlement solution on a single platform. EuroCCP will partner with Citi‘s global transaction services business as its settlement agent.

UBS excels in 2007 Institutional Investor All-Europe Fixed Income Research Team survey

In a sterling effort, UBS has received four No.1 team rankings in the 2007 Institutional Investor All-Europe Fixed Income Research Team survey.

The firm received No.1 rankings for Utilities; Financial Institutions/Banks; Financial Institutions/Insurance Companies; and Telecommunications Media and Technology, (Investment Grade).

UBS named top foreign brokerage in Japan's Nikkei rankings

UBS Japan's Equity research team scored an all-time high in the annual Nihon Keizai Shimbun (The Nikkei) rankings, with the firm placing first among foreign brokerages and third overall.

Ten UBS analyst teams received top three rankings in their respective sectors: industrial electronics, electrical components, telecoms, steel, machinery, pulp and paper, transport, property, quantitative strategy and the non-bank financials sector.

UBS takes Bank of the Year crown again in IndyMac Bank competition

UBS has successfully defended its Bank of the Year crown in a competition staged by IndyMac Bank, one of the US's largest mortgage originators. The contest ranked competitors in a range of areas of asset-backed securities (ABS) client coverage.

UBS won IndyMac's first Bank of the Year competition in 2005.

UBS brings THE PLAYERS Championship to New York City

UBS announces plans to launch an exciting sponsorship activation of THE PLAYERS at Rockefeller Center in midtown Manhattan, New York, from May 4 - 13.

The UBS Golf Challenge: Experience THE PLAYERS Championship is a scaled replica of the TPC Sawgrass PLAYERS Stadium Course's famed 17th hole, and offers visitors to Rockefeller Center a chance to take a swing at the famous island green surrounded by water.

UBS and LSO take top prize at annual Arts & Business Awards

UBS and the London Symphony Orchestra have won the top prize at one of the most prestigious award ceremonies in arts sponsorship. The two organizations took away the 2007 Champion of the Year accolade, awarded by Arts & Business (A&B), the UK not for profit organization dedicated to nurturing lasting relationships between business and the arts.

The award is given each year to the partnership that A&B considers to be the most outstanding and beneficial from among the nine winners of its national Arts & Business Awards. The UBS /LSO partnership had already picked up the Arts & Business Award for Sustainability, in recognition of the extremely strong partnership between the firm and the orchestra.

UBS's relationship with the LSO began 10 years ago when the firm supported the redevelopment of St Luke's, a derelict London church. The site was transformed into the successful UBS and LSO Music Education Centre. UBS's relationship with the LSO now comprises a host of activities and events.

UBS gets adventurous in the name of charity

More than A$100,000 was raised for charity in Australia recently, when more than 130 UBS staff, clients and families came together for the inaugural UBS Adventure Challenge.

The action-packed day consisted of three adventure races - the enduro, short course and family event - with participants running, swimming and kayaking their way through an adventure course at Clifton Gardens on Sydney Harbor.

Healthy competition both on and off the course, resulted in more than $100,000 being raised for The National Breast Cancer Foundation, WWF and Black Dog Institute.

UBS has put in another strong performance in Profit & Loss magazine's Digital FX Awards 2007, winning Best Banks Platform (for e-tools and service), Best FX Prime Brokerage and the Continuous Linked Settlement (CLS) Bank Award.

In a detailed analysis of each award, the magazine praises UBS for its high-quality offerings.

The Profit & Loss awards are decided by the magazine's editorial team, based on e-tool demonstrations, customer feedback and how clients are able to use the technology provided by banks.
