UBS announces the addition of short term ratings for equity research

The Investment Bank has announced enhancements to its equity research ratings system.

While the fundamental basis of the rating system will remain unchanged, analysts will have the option of assigning a short term "buy" or "sell" rating to capture expected near-term movements in the share price, without changing the 12-month recommendation.

Launch of new commodities algorithmic strategy, UBS Comm-PASS

The Investment Bank has announced the launch of a new UBS Commodities Portfolio Algorithmic Strategy System, known as Comm-PASS. The system is a portfolio based algorithmic strategy which exploits momentum in the commodity markets to generate returns through automated long and short strategies.

The portfolio consists of a basket of strategies on 19 commodity futures markets from the five different commodity sectors: energy, precious metals, base metals, agriculture and livestock. It is weighted to maintain a diversified portfolio, taking into account liquidity issues.
