IFR Asia names UBS its ‘Equity House of the Year’ The International Financing Review Asia (IFR Asia)
has named the Investment Bank 'Equity House of the Year' in its review
of 2005. "UBS was more successful than any other bank at building new business in Asia," said the magazine. "And in forging scores of new relationships and putting itself in the middle of deal flow in every single Asian market, the bank has positioned itself as the most competitive ECM house in the region." IFR Asia also said that UBS's determination in fighting for new business had paid off in terms of league table position and resulted in an extraordinarily diverse deal flow. In particular, the magazine highlighted how in 2005 the firm had picked up momentum in China, gathered strength in India and has become increasingly competitive in both NASDAQ IPOs and American Depository Receipts (ADRs).
Strong showing for Fixed Income teams in EuroWeek’s Review of the Year UBS's achievement in the European fixed income markets were recognized by both borrowers and investment banking peers in EuroWeek's Review of the Year 2005. UBS did well across the board, ranking No. 1 in Subordinated Bank Capital and ranking among the top 3 in a number of other key categories. In the coveted borrowers' poll, UBS was voted by clients as the No. 2 Strongest Bank in the Primary Bond Market and No.2 Best Provider of Impartial Advice. UBS also picked up the No.3 rank for Most Impressive Bank in Euros, Most Impressive Bank in Sterling and in the Best Provider of Swaps category. Clients recognized UBS’s lead managing skills with top 3 rankings is such categories as Central and East European Bonds (No.2); Swiss Franc Bonds (No.2) and Euro Sovereign, Supernational and Agency Bonds (No.3). In both Global and Asian Distribution UBS ranked No.2 overall, while a number of UBS lead deals were also awarded top accolades in the publication's Emerging Markets Poll.
