IFR Asia names UBS its ‘Equity House of the Year’

The International Financing Review Asia (IFR Asia) has named the Investment Bank 'Equity House of the Year' in its review of 2005.

Acting as bookrunner on 70 Asian equity capital market (ECM) transactions during the period under consideration, and generating league table credit of over US$13 billion, UBS was commended for its diligence, skill and near omnipresence across all sectors and markets.

"UBS was more successful than any other bank at building new business in Asia," said the magazine. "And in forging scores of new relationships and putting itself in the middle of deal flow in every single Asian market, the bank has positioned itself as the most competitive ECM house in the region."

IFR Asia also said that UBS's determination in fighting for new business had paid off in terms of league table position and resulted in an extraordinarily diverse deal flow. In particular, the magazine highlighted how in 2005 the firm had picked up momentum in China, gathered strength in India and has become increasingly competitive in both NASDAQ IPOs and American Depository Receipts (ADRs).
