UBS named Best M&A house in South Africa

UBS was recently named Best M&A house in South Africa by the publication emeafinance. Between the period September 2008 and September 2009, the firm has maintained the dominant position in the country by delivering superior advice and execution to both institutional and corporate clients.

This past year, UBS has led some of the most high-profile M&A transactions in South Africa, with advisory roles in deals for Vodafone, Vodacom, Batho Bonke, and AngloGold. emeafinance describes the firm's involvement in Vodafone's acquisition of an additional stake in Vodacom as "a true testament to UBS's ability to navigate complex cross border and deal specific issues."

"We've made great strides in South Africa - not just in M&A but in other markets as well," said Chris Niehaus, Joint Head of Investment Banking, MENA. "This latest accolade comes off the back of our research team achieving a number one overall ranking in Financial Mail's annual 'Ranking the Analysts' Survey for the second year in a row. We're very pleased with our team's efforts."
